LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO THE YUKON, MUSTANG, AND OKLAHOMA CITY METRO AREA YUKON, Oklahoma is fourteen miles west of Oklahoma City, with easy access to 1-40, 1-35, 1-44, and the landmark Route 66. It has a population of 23,000 and is rapidly growing. Travel time to work from Yukon to Oklahoma City is approximately eleven to fifteen minutes. Yukon is the hometown of the famous country singer Garth Brooks. The district has seven elementary schools for grades kindergarten through fifth grade. There are two middle schools for sixth through eighth grades. Freshman and sophomores attend Yukon mid-high, and juniors and seniors attend Yukon High School. Southwest Covenant School is located in Yukon and is designed for grades kindergarten through grade twelve. It is an outreach ministry to the Christian community. Yukon has several festivals each year with the largest being the Czech festival.

 MUSTANG is located just six miles east of Yukon. It is a small community with a population of 15,000. Mustang is also easily accessible to Interstate 40, 1-35, 1-44, and Route 66. It is conveniently located near Will Rogers World Airport. Mustang was once part of the now famous Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. Like Yukon, it has several festivals and events . It's a great place to be the first weekend after Labor Day to celebrate the Annual Western Days Celebration and International Professional Rodeo. Thousands visit Mustang each year. Construction is now complete on a wonderful new Town Center in Mustang. The Mustang Community Center features a fantastic waterpark, basketball courts, walking trails, library, and new state of the art softball facilities. Mustang offers a variety of little league sports for children ages 4-13 including, soccer, softball, basketball, and football. Mustang's new Town Center also boasts a Senior Citizen's Hall sponsoring lots of great activities for our Seniors. Mustang's school enrollment is around 6,200 with the average number of students graduating is 335. Mustang also has a private school. The Christ Lutheran School and Day Care's goal is to provide education in a Christian environment. It is for ages six weeks old up to fifth grade. The average climate for the area is 41 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 81 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Skies are clear 40% of the time, partly sunny 25%, and cloudy 35%. In Oklahoma City, residents pay 13.1% of disposable income for upscale housing. The average median household income for Mustang is $42,951. Oklahoma City has a large labor pool with major companies like General Motors, Lucent Technology, Fred Jones Manufacturing, and Xerox. Lucent Technology employs 4,519 people in Oklahoma City. According to the Oklahoma City MSA Labor Force, the average percentage of unemployment in Oklahoma City from 1990-1997 ranged from 3.3%-5.7% with the lowest in 1997. Oklahoma has several vo-tech's (Oklahoma State Department of Vocational and Technical Education). Last year 379,000 workers and would-be workers were trained through vo-tech. There are many exciting things to do for fun in the Oklahoma City area. Visit the new Bricktown Ballpark in downtown Oklahoma City and watch the Redhawks baseball team play. It features a state of the art video scoreboard and a restaurant overlooking the field. Also, check out the new Ford Center. It is a great place to watch Blazer hockey and see all sorts of concerts.

 While you are in the area, visit the Myriad Botanical Gardens. It is a two hundred and twenty-four foot tropical paradise with waterfalls, winding trails, and thousands of plants. Next to the Myriad Botanical Gardens is the Myriad Convention Center, which holds many events. There are several places to visit right off 1-35 in Oklahoma City. There is the National Cowboy Hall of Fame where you can see many cowboys from Oklahoma who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Zoo is in the area. It is the oldest zoo in the southwest and has nearly 2,200 exotic animals. After that, you can visit the Omniplex next door which includes the Kirkpatrick Planetarium, Galleries, Greenhouse and Gardens. If you like horse racing, Remington Park is right down I-35. Your kids will love it if you take them to Frontier City amusement park right down from Remington Park. White Water Bay Water Park is right off 1-40 and Meridian. It features over thirty rides, slides, pools, and activities-plus live concerts and movies. There are many great lakes and state parks in Oklahoma. There is Lake Thunderbird State Park, thirteen miles east of Norman. Oklahoma City is the home of Lake Hefner, a popular place for sailing and competitions, and several great restaurants.
